West Texas Land for Sale
The area of West Texas is immense, larger than many Eastern states. It stretches around 400 miles from San Angelo to El Paso and more than 300 miles from the Mexican border to Lubbock. This region contains the largest supply of the cheapest land to be found anywhere in the United States. For that reason alone, land dealers, speculators and investors keep a close eye on West Texas land for sale.
In 1955, all eyes in West Texas were focused on the little town of Marfa, where the movie, “Giant,” was being filmed. The famous cast included Elizabeth Taylor, Rock Hudson, James Dean, Carroll Baker, Chill Wills, Mercedes McCambridge, Dennis Hopper, Sal Mineo and Earl Holliman. The Paisano Hotel, headquarters for the cast and crew, is still in operation and is now a National Historic Landmark.
Another interesting little town in West Texas is Pecos, home of the nation’s oldest rodeo, founded in 1883. During the last week in June, Pecos is jam-packed with tourists attending the rodeo.
Loving County, located in West Texas, is a very interesting and unique county. It is the nation’s least populous county, with only 68 people living within its 680 square miles, a density of 10 square miles per person. In the county seat of Mentone, the population is 12. Mentone has no newspaper, no grocery store, no doctor, no schools and no stop lights. In spite of having very few residents, or perhaps because of having very few residents, there is a strong demand for West Texas land for sale available in Loving County. To view properties for sale, CLICK HERE
